There are several companies offering prepackaged install-it-yourself surveillance camera kits. These kits are packaged into groups of cameras, the most popular being the four camera kits. The systems vary greatly from supplier to supplier. We have chosen two leading brands for this discussion.EZWatch Pro
The EZWatch Pro system is a PC based system which expands in groups of four. The system can support one to fourty eight cameras. The kits are offered complete with cameras, wire, fittings and installation instructions. EZWatch Pro offers two version of their system. One called Business Grade and the other Professional Grade. The main difference between the two version being the maximum frames per second that can be viewed and recorded for each camera.
The kits can be tailored for your specific needs by adjusting the number or type of cameras included in the kit. The kits are intended to be installed by a novice. The company maintains a large in-house technical support department which claims to solve 98% of all customer problems over the phone.
The average installation time is 1.25 hours per camera but this can
vary from installation to installation. The installations are straight
forward and require little preparation. The cameras location is chosen
and a power wire and video cable is pulled from the PC or DVR location
to the location of the camera. The cameras are equipped with a six inch
"pigtail" which provides easy connection of the power and video cable.

The Armor Pro system is a "hardware" or "embedded" system. These terms refer to the DVR's design. Hardware based systems are the most durable and reliable. They are the best choice for industrial or harsh environment applications. While the units are rugged and extremely reliable they are limited with respect to user interface and operating features. The Armor Pro kits are packaged similar to the EZWatch kits and can be tailored to fit your particular needs.
